
Douglas L. McDermott is a principal and the CFO of At Home Personal Care. AHPC provides personal care services to seniors and the disabled permitting them to “age in place” in the comfort of their own homes. Prior to joining AHPC he was the President/CEO and founder of The Annuity Store Financial & Insurance Services, LLC located in Sacramento, CA, until he sold the business in July 2007. The Annuity Store was built on the foundation of a unique marketing approach based upon concept-selling techniques focused on using features and benefits. Doug has over 28 years of experience in the financial services field.
Doug was honored as a member in the National Directory of Who’s Who in Executive and Professionals, 1996-1997 edition, and was selected as an honored member of Who’s Who Among Outstanding Corporate Executives in the l998 publication. Most recently he became a member in the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executive and Professionals 2005-2006 edition and was selected as an honored member of the Heritage Registry of Who’s Who 2005-2006 edition.
Doug has been a guest on many radio talk shows and has authored and published several articles in the financial services area. Since l993 he has addressed over 1,500 seminars as a nationally recognized speaker on annuities and/or other insurance services to the senior market which he refers to as “social security recipients”.
Doug has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Hamilton University.
He also received his professional designations as Chartered Life Underwriter
and Chartered Financial Consultant in 1988, and his Certified Senior Advisor
designation in 2003 and is currently on target to complete, in 2008, the Chartered
Advisor for Senior Living and Certified Long Term Care designations. He is an accomplished golfer having enjoyed the game at courses around the world during which he’s gathered an impressing collection of logo golf balls from each venue he has played. The reason for collecting these golf balls is summed up by the plaque which hangs on the wall behind his desk. “In Honor of my father H. Leland McDermott; I’m living his dreams.” Doug was a succesful high school athlete having participated in both baseball and football, focusing exclusively on football during his collegiat years.
